I have a 5.6 cm Haemorrhagic cyst : likely endometrioma? in my right ovary. One doctor thinks it could be a normal haemorrhagic cyst and the other doctor is confident that this is Endometrioma. The radiologist who does my USG is also confused. Now, one doctor suggested birth control pill to check if the haemorrhagic cyst goes away after 3 months while the other doctor prescribed Dienogest. I chose Dienogest. My question is if this is truly an endometrioma, I expect Dionogest to work on it but what if it's just a haemorrhagic cyst? Will Dienogest work on it or will it continue to grow as it is not getting treated by medication like Birth Control pill and that Dienogest will be stopping the periods? Kindly share your suggestions/ experiences. Many thanks in advance

You are only 31 years old. Please give a trial with Oral contraceptive pills . If it is successful then it is fine. Otherwise you can try with Dienogest. There is enough time.

Could you please give ca125 to know if its endometrioma or not, it not a very specific marker, but can help little bit
But still you can try ocps and go from there
Can we know what complaint you are having due to cyst?
Haemorrhagic cyst usually will not increase and will decrease in size if asymptomatic but endometrioma requires treatment . All these are hormones tablets so your period can get affected once you stop the treatment, but it Is temporary.

It depends on what your symptoms were for which the scan was done. If you were symptomatic, that is you have pain abdomen or painful periods, then treating this with dienogest will be a better option.
If you do not have any symptoms, then you can just repeat a scan after 3 months to see the size of the cyst.
Birth control pills do not have much effect on reducing the size of ovarian cyst.
