Growth Concern due to Hypothyroidism
I am a 17 years 11 months oldboy who started taking 100 mcg Levothyroxine for 17.9 TSH levels almost 15 days ago and I suspect I had Hypothyroidism since at least 2023 and could be from before too. I want to ask if I will be able to catch up to my Genetic Height Potential and how can I make it sure, I am 10 cms shorter than my elder brother and 12 cms shorter than my father.

I wonder if you are taking treatment for Hypothyroidism as a part of self medication or you consulted a Physician. You are 17 years old. You have another 2-3 years during which you may grow further. Please consult a General Physician in your area for a physical examination, thorough investigations and proper treatment. Hypothyroidism is not the only cause for short stature.

Thyroid replacement therapy doesn't cause stunted growth. It promotes growth hormone secretion.majority of  growth hormone is released during deep sleep. Aim for 8 to10 hours of quality rest per night. Take at least 20g of protein per meal also Calcium and Vit D.
Next Steps
Consult Endocrinologist for your dose adjustment.
Health Tips
