Since you are suffering from the above mentioned complaints you may be suffering from gastritis so you should make lifestyle changes such as avoiding spicy food at night, caffeine and keep at least 2 hours gap between dinner and sleep. Also if you still continue such symptoms after 3 weeks you should go for upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. For more visit online consultation

Life style changes are prior importance. Identify foods specifically triggering like spicy , citrus fruits especially in the early mornings . Secondary consider if any new medications you have started could also trigger . Medications need to considered ideally for 7-10 days , if symptoms donot resolve may require endoscopy.

Eat small, frequent meals and stay well hydrated. Once symptom-free, you may gradually reintroduce foods while continuing medications as advised. If symptoms persist or worsen, further evaluation may be needed like endoscopy

The answers to your two questions depends on how severe your complaints have been, and on whether there has been any ulcers, whether there are any coexisting medical conditions. However, for lasting remission, I advice you to make healthy eating part of your life. Good diet, plenty of water, correct meal times, right portions, limiting alcohol etc help much. You should recover such that once in a while you can enjoy spicy foods too. If you cant help but eat spicy foods, make it a point to take enough salads to compensate. Cucumber is a wonder food for stomach burn.
Next Steps
Make sure your course of medication is short . Nobody wants to depend of drugs and have a diet restriction forever.
