Formula milk for new born baby

Asked for Female, 29 Years

I have a 4 weeks old baby , I am feeding him with nipple shield and I don't have sufficient milk, he is not satisfied with breast feed so doctor suggested formula milk of 30 ml Nan pro 1. Can I increase the volume? Please suggest he is not at all drinking breast milk...

Mother's Breast milk is best for a baby, nothing can substitute it. Some times when formula feed is started with bottle and nipple, baby looses interest in breast milk as she has to put in less effort in sucking from a bottle. You should take protein rich diet, which will improve the milk output. Put baby to your breast frequently, this will also stimulate milk production.

Still if you think, you need to top feed your baby. Yes, you can increase the quantity of top feed, as per the demand of your baby. Take utmost care to maintain the hygeine.
