This age is about the right age to fix braces. However, get an evaluation done by an Orthodontist at the earliest. Usually we wait for all milk teeth to shed before we start treatment. But there are several other factors involved. If you wait for another year, things might get complicated.
Next Steps
Consult an Orthodontist.
Health Tips
I don't say that treatment has to be started immediately. But an immediate evaluation will make the future treatment easier with better planning.

It seems like the appropriate age for orthodontic treatment because we do not go exactly by the chronological age but by the time when the permanent second molars erupt. Consult an orthodontist who can perform a clinical examination and the arch analysis to decide whether the orthodontic treatment can be started now or not. Regards.
