76 year old patient having fainting episodes can be due to several reasons. If there was blood from mouth , a brain scan is definitely recommended unless it was confirmed to be from gum or teeth. Syncope due to heart related reasons like pumping failure or heart rate abnormalties may be the cause. Or it may be neurological causes like brain diseases , postural instability, or rarely seizure. Also you need to get his BP checked in lying down and standing position and see if there is a fall in bp. Most of the conditions may be treatable ,hence consult a Neurologist for detailed evaluation.
