Fasting and constipation
Hi all. I have a history of anal fissures and the last episode was in March 2019. I was fasting for 2 days on Saturday and Sunday. I was only on water on Saturday and just fruits and water on Sunday. Today morning (Monday) I was constipated and it hurt the area during bowel movement. Can fasting cause constipation and what can I do now? Do I need to take laxatives or will my regular diet get things back on track. Thank you

Fasting causes constipation very commonly. But if CONSTIPATION has caused fissure it needs to be treated on time because anal area is a high pressure zone with lot of INFECTION, so once a fissure has formed it is not easy to get healed just by coming to normal diet.
Next Steps
first thing is to avoid further CONSTIPATION by diet and lifestyle and MEDICINES. fissure Treatment if done properly can heal very well but often incomplete TREATMENT is done and results in need for surgery.

If you are taking plenty of fluids while fasting, chances of constipation are minimal. Sometimes watery stools also tend to cause fissure which is unrelated with constipation. Just taking laxatives / fluid is not going to cure fissure, you need some local smooth muscle relaxant & local anaesthetic to get relief from pain
Next Steps
Consultant a Surgeon to get proper treatment, 80 % chances of cure with medication, 20% people require surgical cure which will be permanent & superior
Health Tips
Add high fibre diet in your lifestyle
