My wife delivery date was on 29 dec...bt delivery happened on 7 nov...it was premature delivery...she gave birth to baby boy...doctor told us baby boy was not able to swallow as he was suffering from esophageal atresia...what is the cause of this defect...can we diagnose this defect before birth...is there any problem in next delivery

Esophageal Atresia is a Developmental defect.Certain malformations may occur during the process of organ formation.It can't be detected before birth with definitive evidence.
However it can be corrected by Surgery.
There is nothing like if one baby has EA, the 2nd baby will also have....So nothing to worry.
