Drastic water level reduction

Asked for Female, 30 Years

What makes water level reduce drastically? My water level in week 38 was 7.8 and in just 12 days it reduced to 3.4 so I had to undergo c section for delivery. What causes water level to reduce so drastically? Please let me know so that I'll take care of it next time.

At 38 weeks.. Have amniotic fluid reduced can mean that the bag of membrane may have ruptured with leak of fluid. Avoiding strenuous activity and having rest will surely avoid unwanted leak.
