As per your kid own rabies vaccination history (“Since 2 yrs i have taken 2 booster doses total 8 injections”):
• It sounds like you have completed a full post-exposure course in the past (usually 4-5 doses) and then taken additional boosters (2 more courses?).
• If you have received a complete modern cell-culture rabies vaccine series (IM or ID) before, you are considered previously vaccinated.
• According to WHO, CDC, and Indian national guidelines:
• For any new exposure (even if low risk), previously vaccinated persons need only 2 booster doses of rabies vaccine: one on Day 0 (as soon as possible) and one on Day 3.
• No RIG is required.
• No need for more than these 2 doses, even if years have passed since your last vaccination.
• So, yes, you should take a booster now—start with the first dose immediately (today or tomorrow latest) and the second on Day 3.
• This will give you full protection again. Observe the cat
Hi
Within 3 months of a completed post exposure prophylaxis, no dose is required.
After 3 months, only 0 and 3, 2 doses are required for ARV. No HRIG or MAB is required
Hope it helps
