Hello, I understand your concern
Most cough and nasal block in children are due to viral infections or allergic cold. These usually improve in 5–7 days with supportive care.
This is an anti-allergic medicine, used for allergic rhinitis, asthma, or recurrent cold with nasal blockage, not for acute viral cold. It’s not routinely given for simple cold or short-term cough.
Can be considered if the child has frequent night-time nasal block, snoring, or allergy symptoms lasting >2–3 weeks — but only under doctor’s advice.
Next Steps
Steam inhalation before bedtime (with supervision)
Nasal saline drops/spray 3–4 times a day for nasal blockage
Plenty of fluids and keep room air moist (avoid fans directly on face)
Avoid strong smells, dust, incense which worsen allergy/cough
Health Tips
If cough worsens, there is breathing difficulty, noisy breathing, persistent fever, poor sleep/appetite, or symptoms >1 week — re-evaluate by Pediatrician before starting any new medicine.
I totally understand your concern. Before suggesting treatment, I would like to ask a few questions to ensure the correct management can be provided.
