Dog scratch
I encountered with a dog escaped and came home then i noticed a tiny blood patch on left hand now i have doubt whether the dog scratched me or it is a wound i got when i tried to escape. It happened 17 days ago. Today i take first vaccine on the advice of my physician and two shots are remaining. Will it cause any harm in case of no dog bite? thanks

Hi....Direct contact with animal blood should be avoided whenever possible.Though blood of a rabid dog is not infected it is the saliva which is infected.By any chance if you doubt for a scratch go for immunisation. In particular, avoid getting animal blood on any cuts, scrapes or other broken skin, and avoid getting the blood in your mouth, nose or eyes. If you do get animal blood on your skin, wash it off as soon as possible. While it is extremely unlikely for a person to get sick from touching animal blood, make sure you tell your physician about the incident if you do become ill.
