I have been suffering from diabetes from past 5yrs ,my sugar levels are fbs 286 though I take medicine gliminyl 2mg mrng n ngt +metfomin in da afn,recently diagnosed with hypertension n using medicine for same ,planning a baby now ,can I proceed for baby ,wat r da chances I can have a healthy baby

Hi there...I can understand your concern. It would be better if you delayed your plans to have a baby, until your blood sugar levels and blood pressure are under control. High sugar levels can lead to gestational diabetes and high blood pressure can lead to eclampsia. Your fasting blood sugars level of 286 is very high. Kindly consult your general physician with reports. Your medications might need to be increased or changed as clearly your sugar levels are not under control. Also before you plan for a baby, kindly consult a obstetrician once. They will councel you regarding the precautions and complications.
