This is telling you, he has Diabetes mellitus. If he is losing weight, thirsty all the time and craving for food- this will suggest he has Type 1 diabetes mellitus. This needs treating with Insulin. If his weight is stable or going up, this is suggestive of Type 2 Diabetes mellitus. This needs diet adjustment and tablets (initially). All the best. www.jgsr-health-education.in

Patient Advice High Blood Sugar Readings Dear Patient, A fasting blood sugar of 157 and post meal sugar of 230 are higher than normal and fall in the diabetic range. At the age of 31 this is considered early onset diabetes but it is manageable and many people control it well with proper treatment and lifestyle changes. What should be done next Confirm with HbA1c test to assess average sugar level over the last 3 months Start diet control regular exercise and weight management Reduce sugar sweets refined flour fried food and sugary drinks Increase fiber vegetables whole grains and protein intake Daily walking at least 30 to 45 minutes Medicines  may start oral anti diabetic medicines depending on HbA1c level and overall health Early treatment helps prevent long term complications When to consult a doctor urgently Excessive thirst frequent, urination, weight loss, fatigue or blurred vision Very high readings above 250 to 300 With timely treatment and lifestyle control blood sugar can be well managed and complications can be prevented.
