Hi,
I recently had a deep cairnes for a molar tooth. It is the second time I did filling after first one punctured. Doctor recommended RCT but since I had no major pain, Doctor said there is 50-50 chnace for filling to be successful. I went ahead with filling. I wanted to know is there any easily removable tooth cap kind of thing in market to protect teeth? Similar to how we wear raincoat in rainy season.

Thank you for your thoughtful question! Itâs great to see patients thinking proactively about tooth protection.
𦷠My Clinical Opinion:
Youâve undergone a repeat filling in a deep carious molar, and while symptoms are currently mild, the tooth is structurally compromised. In such borderline cases (where RCT may or may not be immediately necessary), preserving the filling and protecting the tooth is important.
Next Steps
âIs there a raincoat-like removable âcapâ for teeth? Unfortunately, no such removable tooth cap is commercially available for daily use like a raincoat. However, there are some protective options, though they serve different purposes: ð¹ 1. Night Guard / Mouth Guard (Custom-made): Usually made of soft or hard acrylic. Worn during sleep to prevent grinding or clenching, which can weaken filled teeth. Doesnât protect during chewing/eating, but reduces stress on filled molars.
Health Tips
Brush gently with a soft brush and fluoridated toothpaste. Floss daily to prevent secondary caries.

Hello
There is no removable cap thing
You need to maintain good oral hygiene so that the tooth doesn't catch secondary caries
If the caries are deep you need to undergo a root canal treatment
Hello! No, there is no such product available in the market. Your filling has already been done. Please maintain proper oral hygiene. If the cavity is deep, it would be better to get a root canal treatment (RCT) followed by a permanent crown.
