CT scan in initial stage of Pregnancy
Hello Doctor, My wife had an accident on 21st July. She got injury on head. She had constant vomiting and her head was detouring. So, We rush to the doctor and he suggested CT scan head plain and CT scan cervical spine. My wife went through both on 22nd July and reports were normal. And she started to heal and got normal in a week. On 5th August, she started vomiting. We tested pregnancy with Prega news in next morning, and pregnancy was positive. We went to a gynecologist, and she told that the fetus is 1 Month 12 days old by calculating the last period. My concern is that at the time of CT scan she was pregnant by some days, thus CT scan might have affected the fetus in her womb. Shall we continue her pregnancy?

CT head and cervical spine overall have very low exposure to the embryo and are not recommendations for pregnancy termination.
Health Tips
serial ultrasounds at 6 9 and 12 weeks , double marker test at 12 weeks and a very thorough 3d anomaly scan for the baby at 18 weeks should cover it
