Greetings nightly coughing fit that triggers vomiting is common in children due to a sensitive gag reflex. One major possibility is cough-variant asthma, which often triggers persistent coughing spells exclusively during sleep.Post-nasal drip from lingering allergies, colds, or sinus infections can also irritate the airway while lying down.Other potential underlying conditions include gastroesophageal acid reflux (GERD) or infections like whooping cough.Keep your child well-hydrated with fluids and avoid over-the-counter cough suppressants unless approved by a physician

A cough that occurs predominantly at night and is severe enough to cause vomiting (post-tussive vomiting) should be evaluated by a pediatrician. Common causes include asthma/cough-variant asthma, allergic rhinitis with post-nasal drip, enlarged adenoids, sinusitis, gastroesophageal reflux, or occasionally pertussis (whooping cough). Please note: • How long the cough has been present • Any wheezing, breathing difficulty, snoring, or nasal blockage • Fever, weight loss, or contact with someone having prolonged cough • Vaccination status If the cough has been occurring for more than 2–4 weeks or is happening every night, a clinical examination is recommended to identify the cause and start appropriate treatment.
