Dear Patient,
Based on your symptoms severe pain during passing stool fresh bleeding and burning sensation the current problem is most consistent with an anal fissure rather than hemorrhoids. An anal fissure is a small cut in the anal skin that usually occurs after passing hard stool.
Why this happened
During your trip intake of low fiber food alcohol and possible dehydration likely caused constipation and hard stool. When hard stool passes it creates a tear in the anal canal leading to pain and bleeding. Once a fissure forms pain causes spasm of the anal muscle which further worsens difficulty in passing stool creating a cycle.
This is a very common condition and not dangerous but it can be very painful.
What you should do
Take high fiber diet fruits vegetables whole grains oats
Drink 2.5 to 3 liters water daily
Avoid constipation and straining
Warm sitz bath in lukewarm water 10 to 15 minutes 2 to 3 times daily
Continue ointment given by doctor regularly
Medicines commonly helpful
Stool softener like lactulose or polyethylene glycol at night
Topical anesthetic or fissure ointment as prescribed
Paracetamol for pain if required
When to consult doctor urgently
Bleeding is heavy or continuous
Pain does not improve in 10 to 14 days
Fever swelling or pus discharge occurs
Constipation persists despite treatment
Most acute fissures heal within 2 to 4 weeks with proper stool softening and local care. Consistency in diet and hydration is the key to recovery.
