Greetings
13-month-old female infant who displays good eye contact, clear communication skills, and responsive interaction, but has recently started randomly covering her ears.Isolated ear covering in a toddler can resemble typical sensory exploration of how the world sounds, a standard emotional defense mechanism against overstimulation, or an early physiological reaction to a quiet environmental frequency. To rule out any physical or developmental underlying causes, it is best to check for three separate possibilities, such as a mild ear infection, fluid accumulation in the eustachian tubes, or a temporary stage of heightened auditory processing. If addressing potential discomfort or sensory aversion, you can explore three distinct management paths: creating a designated quiet space, tracking potential environmental triggers like background appliances, or utilizing gentle distraction through tactile play
