At 29 years of age, chest pain and shortness of breath can occur due to multiple reasons. ECG is normal which is reassuring and makes major acute cardiac problems less likely, but symptoms still need proper evaluation.
Common causes at this age include acidity/GERD, muscle strain, anxiety or panic symptoms, stress, respiratory issues, or sometimes cardiac causes (especially if there are risk factors like smoking,
diabetes, obesity, high BP, or family history).
It would be important to know:
• Since when symptoms started and whether sudden or gradual
• Nature of chest pain (sharp/heavy/burning), exact location, and whether it radiates
• Whether breathlessness occurs at rest or exertion
• Any palpitations, sweating, dizziness, cough, fever, acidity, or anxiety symptoms
• History of smoking, alcohol, BP, diabetes,
thyroid issues, or family history of heart disease
If chest pain is severe, pressure-like, associated with sweating, fainting, worsening breathlessness, or radiation to arm/jaw, kindly seek urgent medical attention immediately. Otherwise, a detailed consultation and examination may help identify the cause and decide if further tests (such as blood tests, chest evaluation, echo, or repeat ECG if needed) are required.
