After a wisdom tooth extraction and tongue biopsy, it's common to experience bad breath and tongue soreness during the healing process. Here are some suggestions: Anti-bacterial Mouthwash: Using an anti-bacterial mouthwash can help reduce bacteria in the mouth and freshen your breath. You can start using it a few days after the extraction or as recommended by your dentist. Follow the instructions on the mouthwash label or consult with your dentist for specific guidance. Mouth Guard: If you've been prescribed a mouth guard, it's best to consult with your dentist regarding the appropriate time to start using it. They can provide guidance based on your specific situation and ensure that the mouth guard is suitable for your post-extraction healing process. Dry Socket Risk: Dry socket is a potential complication after tooth extraction, but the risk typically decreases significantly after the first few days. Since it has been 9 days since your extraction, the risk of developing dry socket is likely minimal. However, if you have concerns or are experiencing severe pain or discomfort, it's best to reach out to your dentist for an evaluation. Chewing and Brushing: It's important to follow your dentist's instructions regarding chewing and brushing after the extraction. Typically, in the initial healing period, it's recommended to avoid chewing on the extraction site and to be gentle while brushing the area. Your dentist can provide specific guidance based on your healing progress and the condition of your second molar tooth.
