My mother periods got stopped at 43 years . And it just happened again once at 46 years for 10 days which stopped with 3 days medicine and never happened again from last 20 months .
We met gynaecologist randomly today and went for Pap smear test and doctor said that she found some abnormal growth at start of cervix ( found by using just hand ) and an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow.
Can I know what does it mean unusual growth . Does it mean cancer ?? And also are both ultrasound and Pap smear are compared and result will be updated ??

Pap smear is a very good tool for screening of cervical cancer , but if a growth is found - the best investigation is a biopsy rather than a Pap smear . Even if the Pap smear come negative growth present may need to be evaluated.
And ultra sound may not able to give you a clear picture and not considered as the investigation of choice if a growth is present in uterus . You can consult if you wish and discuss your symptoms in detail and do the necessary investigation .
