Can yeast infection happen from antibiot
Hi I am on antibiotics from past 12-14 days due to viral fever. From past 4 days so I have started experiencing itchiness in my vulva. Also I had yeast infection 3 years back and since then It didn't come back. The infection doesn't feels very severe so just applying imidil ointment can help along with diet intake of vitamin c and yogurt. Or should I actually consider going to the doctor as due to covid alot of doctors aren't practicing and I have fever for last 2 weeks I myself doesn't feel to go to the doctor for examination . I have stopped taking antibiotics today so how much time can it take to get normal after leaving antibiotics.? Kindly help me with the same I have the doctors prescription from my last experience should I go through the same medicines as per the prescription. Also I am on medication from quite a time now if pills can be avoided for a minor candidiasis infection. Please suggest.

Hi! Yes, some broad spectrum antibiotics, esp if taken for a long duration can affect vaginal flora and makes you susceptible to get yeast infection. Maintaining good perineal hygiene and Dietary intake of immuno-boosters like vit c and yoghurt are of help to some extent. But if you have significant symptoms like vulvo-vaginal itching, increased white curdy/ flaky discharge, redness or swelling...then you should visit a doctor and get yourself examined.
Next Steps
Watch for signs and symptoms...if are significant and increasing, Consult doctor.
Health Tips
Maintain good perineal hygiene. Take healthy diet( Yoghurt and Vit C are of help). Adequate fluid intake.
