Can't have sexual intercourse

Me and my boyfriend tried to have Sex but each time it won't go in I am a virgin and have periods regularly but I have not been able to get tampons in either. I am relaxed and ready could it be a hymen issue if so how can I look at it to see what type of hymen? Help?
