Only large deletions/ duplication can be detected by karyotype. For confirmation, FISH (Fluorescent insitu hybridization) or chromosomal microarray might be necessary. May I know why is she even planning a karyotyping after birth ? Is there any problem with antenatal tests/ scans ?
