Can ct scan reveal covid infection
My grandmother had fever diaorreah and vomitings ..when taken to hospital they did all types of test and said suspected case of covid . Then later told in ct scan it is in stage 2 Lung infection is there .and asked to admit in icu . Her age is 75 .. Can we detect covid infection through ct scan .. What is meant by stage 2 . They informed that after 2 days they will discharge her. Is it possible to treat patient so early ..and moreover no symptoms of difficulty in breathing and cough .

1) CT scan alone cannot detect covid-19 infection , but if typical covid complications involving lungs is present we can think in terms of covid, RT-PCR is still needed for diagnosing of covid
2) stage -2 ? I think you mean CO-Rads 2??? If you mean Co-Rads 2 on CT , it usually means “ CT findings showing abnormalities consistent with infections other than covid 19”
3) it is not possible to treat any patient in two days alone for covid, but as you mentioned about her being assymptomatic my guess is the doctor probably advised an admission of 2 days for better evaluation/management and later continue with home care
