A boil under a dog’s foot (paw pad or between toes) is pretty common and usually painful, so gentle but timely care matters
Common causes
Bacterial infection (often from a small cut or thorn)
Interdigital cyst / furunculosis
Foreign body (grass awn, splinter)
Constant licking (allergy, stress)
Hard surfaces / burns
Clean the area (very important)
Trim hair around the boil
Wash 2 times daily with:
Diluted povidone-iodine , or
Chlorhexidine solution
Dry properly after cleaning
2. Warm fomentation
Use warm saline water
Apply for 5–10 minutes, 2–3 times/day
Helps pus drain and reduces pain
3.Topical treatment
Apply after cleaning:
Mupirocin ointment, or
Fusidic acid, or
Neomycin + Bacitracin combination
👉 Cover lightly with gauze only if dog keeps licking
