Blood Sugar Test
Hi.. My dad is around 70 years of age. His Fasting Blood Sugar levels are around 75 and After Meals it came out to be 95. I have been reading on Internet that after meals it should be under 140, but nowhere I could see the lower safe healthy limit after meals. Plz give your valuable feedback if after meals 95 level is healthy or is a cause for concern? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks for your query Please record your blood sugar levels daily before and after meal after 2 hours for one week. Please record the date, time And whether it was before or after meals. Take this chart to a doctor after 1 week to adjust the medication doses. Low blood sugar levels starting with lesser than 60 mg/dl can cause and lead to hypoglycaemia which can be dangerous. If sugar levels are low, skip ANTI diabetic medications till levels are above the normal  lower range. You can also administer sugars in such situations when glucose levels are low.

If he is not in any medications for diabetes, you need not worry about these levels. However, if he's on medication, the dose will need adjustment.
