Bent penis during sex, Swollen testicle

During sex, my boyfriend bent his erect penis. His erection was gone right away and redness and swelling of the right testicle occurred. He was able to ejaculate but swelling of testicle grew to the size of a lemon. It is painful. I was wondering if it is a medical emergency and what are some signs that he will be okay?
