Dear Dr,
My son is having fever last three days and I have visited primary health centre at my hometown. They prescribed two syrup and it is paracetamol pediatric syrup and trimethoprim & sulphamethoxazole oral suspension IP. We are giving only paracetamol as per refered by practo doctor 4ml/4hrs. My son is 7month, 15days old and 6.75kg and he is not having any rashes, no vomiting and cold but sometimes Cough ( not regularly). We are following the same homemade food since a month and we haven't changed anything + mother's milk during the fever also.
Baby is active both fever and non fever time and taking food as well. We are trying to give more water as much possible. Baby is passing urine as usual.
I am not sure why fever is not reducing since these many days?. Do I need to change the medicine by consulting Dr.
I have monitor the temperature at armpit and attached for your reference. Is it normal or not?
Please help me doctors.
Thanks
Venu

Usually viral fevers will last for atleast 3-4 days. If the child is active, eating well just wait and watch. If the fever lasts more than 4 days, get a follow up.
As per the temperature chart, the fever is low grade. Maintain hydration by giving lots of fluids. Keep sponging whenever temperature rises. You can continue bathing as per routine.

See any viral fever will last 5days minimum whether we use medication or not... We use medicatn for symptomatic relief .

Only 2 spikes 100F is there.. Don't wry it's in declining phase ... In 1-2 days he will be fever free if it's a simple viral fever .
Antibiotic is usually suggested not to miss any bacterial infctns .
