Hi,
My son is around 3 years old and has a development delay. For a few weeks we have noticed that he put pressure on one corner of the eye with finger and then moved his both eyes to one corner and focused on objects which are little far. We visited the paediatric ophthalmologist today and he told us there is refractive error in both eyes and the dilated eye exam needs to be done after that he will be prescribed the number. Also, My kid had Dengue Shock Syndrome when he was 4-5 months old.
How much do we need to worry about refractive error issues? Does he need to wear spect's lifetime?
Does Dengue Shoch Syndrome have anything to do with this refractive error or my child's development delay?
Also, he has some redness in the eyes, so the doctor prescribed moxicip d, moxicip, pataone eye drops for one week. Are these safe? And Does both adults and children both have the same drops?

Dengue Shock Syndrome is a serious condition which requires timely treatment. Eye refractive errors may have many reasons and also unknown reason also. Eye drops are safe no need to worry. Commonly children have to wear the glasses life long and there is nothing to be ashamed about glasses. Sometimes they increase the face glamor, though children need to adjust to safe use of the glasses.

Hai
About refractive error — we can’t predict how we respond now so need regular follow up and treatment
About the medication - yes ,you can use for the children
For development delay take Pediatrics Psychologist guidance.and for eyes already your taking proper guidance from peds ophthalmologist so continue it with specks and eye drops doctor advised as they are safe for baby.Dengue shock syndrome was past which won't cause any effect on him now .Only if there is history of any Convulsion during it or brain issue that can cause development delay so take Pediatrics Psychologist help for it
Developmental delay needs to be evaluated separately.
Refractive errors need's evaluation , dialated eye exam is needed as part of comprehensive eye examination in your child. please follow ophthalmologist guidance ,dont worry too much.
Same eye medicine can be used in both adults and children ,dosage may vary, but NoT the same medicine bottle!
Most refractive errors in children are treatable with glasses and are not usually a cause for major concern. The dilated eye examination will help determine the exact power required. It is too early to say whether your child will need glasses lifelong, as eye power can change with growth.
Developmental delay can be associated with a higher chance of eye problems, but refractive error itself usually does not cause developmental delay. Dengue shock syndrome is also not a known cause of common refractive errors.
The prescribed eye drops are commonly used in children and are generally safe when used as advised by the pediatric ophthalmologist.
