Asthma is a chronic disease which can not be cured but can definitely be controlled so that you can have a symptom free life ahead. She will need to undergo pulmonary function test which is needed for the diagnosis as well as to assess severity of asthma based on which treatment can be started. Consult a pulmonologist for the same at the earliest.

At 60 years asthma is unlikely to go away completely but can be controlled easily with intermittent episodes of asthma worsening.
