Care AI Shimmer
Yes, mild pain after bowel movement on post-op day 5 is usually expected after fissure + fistulotomy surgery, especially if there is no bleeding, fever or pus discharge. Healing time is usually: • Pain improves: 2–4 weeks • Wound healing: 4–8 weeks • Complete settling: sometimes 2–3 months For faster healing apart from sitz bath: • Keep stools soft – high fibre + plenty of water • Take stool softener regularly • Avoid constipation/straining • Walk daily, avoid prolonged sitting • Maintain local hygiene, gently wash after motions • Protein-rich diet helps healing
Next Steps
Consult urgently if: Fever Increasing swelling/redness Pus/foul smell Heavy bleeding Severe worsening pain or difficulty passing urine/stool.
