It's can be dangerous if it is not treated properly.

PCOD is completely reversible in my experience. I have reversed not only my own PCOD but have helped hundreds of women heal their hormone Imbalances and achieve healty natural pregnancies. It's frustrating to see that so many women are suffering and not getting the right information. It can be reversed not by masking the symptoms with drugs but by addressing the root cause of the problem. Needs root cause evaluation with further investigations...Can be healed with diet changes, lifestyle changes, self care and Detoxification.Hope this helps.

PCOS is a heterogeneous endocrine disorder (hormonal imbalance) of multifactorial etiology and affects 5–10% of reproductive women. More prevalent in obese women (20%) than those who are lean. The effects of PCOS are wide ranging and include gynecological, cardiovascular, metabolic, dermatological and psychological.
There are multiple causative factors in the pathophysiology of PCOS including genetic predisposition, environmental factors, obesity (abdominal type), sedentary life style etc.
Hyperinsulinemic insulin resistance plays a prominent role in PCOS. hyperinsulinemia produces a hyperandrogenic state (excessive levels of male sex hormones such as testosterone).

Lifestyle modification is the first line treatment especially for the overweight and obese. The initial pharmacological treatment offered is combination oral contraception pills, since these correct both menstrual abnormalities and hyperandrogenismia. If hirsutism is not controlled satisfactory by cosmetic and OCP treatment, physical hair reduction methods and anti-androgen therapy are added. Metformin is suggested if abnormal glucose tolerance or lipid abnormalities of the metabolic syndrome cannot be normalized by weight loss
