Ideally a newborn passing stools 10-12 times a day to once in 5-6 days is normal provided the baby is active, passing urine 7-8 times a day and accepting feeds appropriately. However if child is crying excessively while passing stools , you will have to start colic drops and monitor. And also rule out urine infection which can be asymptomatic initially and is easily missed in newborns for prolonged durations.
Also whether child is breast feeding or on top feeds also needs to be known to ascertain any cause for excessive bloating if any.

Is it breast fed or on formula milk? No problem if baby doesn’t pass motion for a few days. Breast milk fed babies have better stool consistency and frequency. Fussing can be because of colic. Better to consult pediatrician before giving any medication.

infants can go up to a week without a bowel movement. However, foul-smelling gas combined with crying shows that your baby is experiencing uncomfortable trapped wind. You can help relieve this discomfort by gently massaging his abdomen clockwise and doing bicycle leg exercises.
