About fetus
Hi doctor. I have an anamoly scan on feb5 th 2026.I have completed 18 weeks and 3 days. That scan report shows that mild echogenic bowel loops seen less than fetal illiac crest. The growth of the fetus is up to the gestational age. No more anomalies detected. My earlier nt scan is normal and double marker shows low risk. I am so much worried. Does it resolve? Or is there any complication will occur to the baby after birth? Shall i continue the pregnancy or not. Please give me a reply

This is a mild, isolated finding and usually resolves on its own. With normal growth and low-risk screening, it is not harmful and not a reason to stop the pregnancy

In many cases, mild echogenic bowel is a normal variant and babies are born completely healthy. Not termination — but further evaluation, such as: • A detailed anomaly scan or repeat ultrasound • Growth monitoring • Sometimes maternal blood tests for infections • Genetic screening if advised by your gynecologist

Hi, mild echogenic bowel in the prenatal scan would warrant for an evaluation after birth. Not to worry much now, further scans done later on in the gestation will show if any other changes or there. If only echogenic bowel is what they can comment on until term, then baby should be assessed after birth, for any abdominal signs, passage of stools etc; one ultrasound abdomen of the baby will be needed after birth, to conclusively comment on babys condition. But nothing much to worry as of now.

Hello Since the growth of the baby coincide with the gestational age, there is no problem with the baby. Also all the previous scans were normal. There is no need to panic as the baby is in good condition and there is less likely that there would be any complications thereafter. You should relax and continue with the pregnancy.
Next Steps
Regular ANC visits.
