Hello, I understand your concern At this age, breastfeeding is usually supplementary, not the sole source of nutrition. The baby’s liver and kidneys are more mature, and overall drug sensitivity is lower than in infants under 6 months. Drospirenone is a progestin-only contraceptive. It is generally considered safe during breastfeeding, especially after 6 weeks postpartum. Very small amounts pass into breast milk, but clinical studies show no harmful effects on: Milk production, Infant growth and development, Behavior or feeding
Next Steps
It is safe to continue breastfeeding while on Drospirenone. It does not reduce milk supply, unlike combined pills that contain estrogen. No need to stop or alter breastfeeding routine. Contraceptive protection is effective, and there’s no risk to the baby.
Health Tips
Monitor for: Normal growth and feeding pattern. Baby reaching developmental milestones.
