Yes, babies may rock their heads back and forth during teething or due to other discomforts as a form of self-soothing. This behavior is considered normal in many babies and toddlers and often resolves on its own. Self-soothing: Rhythmic movements like head rocking provide comfort and pleasure to babies, which can help them cope with pain or pressure from teething. Common behavior: Approximately 20% of babies exhibit head banging or rocking behaviors during their first and second years. When to be concerned: The behavior typically only becomes an issue if it results in injury, disrupts sleep, is frequent and lasts for a long time, or is accompanied by a loss of developmental milestones
